Dr. Hartig1979 - 1984
Studies at the Ruhr University in Bochum, majoring in biotechnology, oceanography and microalga.

1985 - 1989
Doctorate in the Research Center Jülich in Germany – with Professor C.J. Soeder.
Public relations in the Research Center Jülich as well.

The Research Center Jülich is the largest German research facility with over 5.000 staff members and interdisciplinary vocational training. In 1985/86, a succession of Chinese scientists (Wuhan University in China) was introduced to the secrets of micro algae biotechnology by Dr. Peter Hartig.

1990 - 1991
Scientific collaboration at the Max-Planck-Institute for Limnology (MPIL) in Plön, Germany. MPIL is occupied with the ecology of inland waters and mainly conducts research in this field.

Jan. 1991 - Ende 1992
Scientific collaboration in the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG) in Zurich, Switzerland under the direction of Prof. Dieter Imboden. The research institute develops concepts and technology for continuous improvement of water utilization in cooperation with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland. The ETH Zurich is a scientific technical university with excellent scientific verification. The university supports innovative research at its highest level.

1993 - 1995
Scientific participation at the Constance University, Germany. Subproject Manager in the Lake of Constance special research area, under the direction of Prod. Dr. Max Tilzer and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schink.

1996 - 2000
Scientific collaboration at the Research- and Technology Centre Westcoast (FTZ) in Büsum, Germany and the University of Kiel.

The Research and Technology Center Westcoast (FTZ) unite the North Sea research in various professional disciplines of the University in Kiel. With its foundation in 1988, the possibility of interdisciplinary, practical and regionally specific research in the Wadden Sea and adjacent coastal zones was significantly expanded. The center, with around 40 staff members, fulfils research assignments in seven disciplines.
